The studio is equipped with all the tools needed to create kiln formed glass. It has three separate working areas, a glass grinding machine and a lap grinder, a kiln capable of firing pieces up to 15 inches (38 cm) square, a sink, drilling and shaping tools, various moulds, glass cutters and safety equipment.
With lots of natural light, a sunny aspect and underfloor heating, it is a lovely space to form ideas and work in.
Glass comes in an amazing number of different shades and colour types, and can be solid colour, transparent or dichroic (which has glitzy, mesmerizing colour-changing properties).
Kiln glass is especially rich because it encompasses an enormous range of colours and working methods, from drawing and painting, to stencilling and slumping (melting into a mould shape).
